Heh, heh. Different standards for pros and amateurs. My response was aimed at conductors of amateur groups, which is hugely challenging because the conductor is trying to established, raise, and enforce a standard with volunteers who can walk out any time they want.
With pros, I suspect the main requirement is that what they get paid is worth more than what it costs, plus a reasonable profit.
I once asked a store-owner friend of mine what a good customer was, and he said, "one whose check doesn't bounce". Same idea.
