This goes exactly hand in hand with what I preach about double tonguing. If you use the exercises in the Arban book (or something similar--those work best in my experience, though) and practice the first sets of them, repeatedly, methodically, and use this set of articulation patterns (keep in mind, this is to strengthen the "k") tttt, kkkk, ktkt, tktk (and always, always, keep the clarity and consistency of articulation & sound first and foremost) you'll typically get pretty good, relatively quick results.
Of course, having a good sound to begin with is paramount--if that mechanism isn't in place, then you'll just wind up being further frustrated with multiple tonguing.
