I, too, have this recording and find it one of the poorer CSO recordings of that era. I also always wondered what the CSO would have sounded like with a competent conductor instead of Solti. They lost alot of good years after Reiner and Martinon. OK, flame away, but IMHO, the orchestra went from being an incredible music machine to a brass heavy, crass sounding ensemble. I often wondered how Mr.Jacobs REALLY felt about the product of that period.
