Saturday Chuck Guzis sent me a MIDI file of a traditional Swedish folk dance "Sat-Maras Polska".

Our discussions took a fast turn from some linguistics about the title (polska means Polish in both of the very different languages Swedish and Polish) to the tonality of the piece.

The key is D Minor, but the subdominant is G Major.

My reading of the tune soon ended up with a quartet for 2 euphs, bass tuba, and contrabass tuba. Also playable by 3 euphs and contrabass tuba.

Despite the light genre, the setting is not especially easy to perform with clarity.

There will eventually be some more versions for other low instruments uploaded. All versions will be compatible allowing for mixed ensembles.

The playing score (no parts are provided) can be found via the link given below here.
