Gotta agree. I have made several purchases on e-bay, and have for the most part been very satisfied. I admit the cuckoo clock I own could have been purchased for less at most any shop (I keep it in sight as a reminder), but that was a learning experience. I have aquired a very nice alto horn (Boosey-Hawks), several clocks, and most recently a tuba. It is a gamble that shouldn't be made unless you can afford the loss!
This horn did (and still does) intrigue be, but it doesn't feel right. Something just seems wrong. Why was it not taken to any local college where buyers would surely jump at a chance at such a horn (unless of course it doesn't play all that great), or consigned at a local music store, and why no reserve (would he have let go at $3995?)
Who knows, maybe this is the deal of a lifetime, but then again.......
