I have been told that in Europe, many of the instrument manufacturers keep their prices artificially high in order to protect their distributors in the U.S. from this sort of thing. Whether this is true or not, I do not know, but I do know that the price of a PT-6 from the Horn & Tuba Center in Munich is not that much different than from Custom in Detroit. As for Yamahas, who knows?
