Back in the days of my playing a Conn 12-J, I discovered low Eb could be played open, then chromatically down is the same as the descending valve combinations.
Eb=0
D=2
Db=1
C=12
B=23
Bb=13 or open
Practice your scales downward to get these notes in your ear and get used to the "weird" fingerings--then start saving to buy a 4-valve horn! Best of luck!
