When I was having problems with my rotaries, cleaning that rod was the key. I tried everything, and nothing helped until I cleaned probably 20 years of gunk off of that rod. I have a kind of unrelated question for you Jay, Because of the very different feel of rotaries and pistons, have you ever had any difficulties using both piston and rotary valve tubas at the same time? Is it a good idea, to have either two piston valve tubas or two rotary valve tubas? Or is it like playing an F and CC( or in your case an Eb and CC) you just get used to the switch? I'd like to hear from anyone who has an opinion on this. Thanks.
