In addition to Brian's venue sales, Summit internet sales, and the CSO Symphony Store, New York area fans will be able to purchase "Arnold Jacobs - Portrait of an Artist" at the Tower 66th & Broadway store sometime next week if promises are fulfilled. For rationale comprehended only by those who produce and distribute recordings, a general retail release of "Portrait" will not occur until August.
This is a great piece of work. For those who knew Mr. Jacobs, it will seem as though he never left us. Those who missed him in person will get an excellent idea of what he was all about. For all who share the common wisdom that VW Concerto, the Bozza Sonatine, and the Strauss 1st Horn are small tuba no brainers will be blown away by his total mastery of these pieces on 6/4.
Unfortunately I'll miss the Tower roll out, as I'm going to Chicago to hear Gene next week. See some of you there.
