You may have to make a choice here when dealing with excerpts. You can buy a book of excerpts only, maybe find one that has most of the standard audition repertoire, but you'll not have complete parts and may end up missing crucial parts of some pieces in your audition preparation. My advice is to buy books like the "Orchestral Tuba Player's Repertoire" by Abe Torchinsky that have complete parts. You may have to buy a few more books to cover all the standard audition repertoire but you'll have complete parts that will allow you to fully prepare for your audition. The extra cost in music may well be worth the price to avoid being surprised in the finals of some audition by music you didn't prepare...

My opinion for what its worth...
