I've played most of the horns mentioned, Hirs., MW, etc.. I own a Rudy Meinl 5/4, and if you know anything about Rudys, they are actually about a size bigger than listed. Once I got over the immense amount of air I had to pump into the horn, I prefer it over the others mentioned. Most of them have a few glitches with intonation, but they also have a trigger on the second slide, to facilitate moving it, quickly. Would I have bought a Yorkbrunner if I had a couple grand more? Maybe.. But, for now, I'm very happy with my big rudy. I believe that it just takes a little more time to really master, or conquer a rudy, but in the end, it's well worth the effort.
