Some phrases do need to be played 'without breaks'; but in most phrases, breaks are written into the music. We refer to them as 'tonguing'. Those are very short breaks, but you can usually find a place where the break can be a bit longer without affecting the musicality of the phrase. The technique Rick describes is something I have used for some years, and I find that it will often fool the ears if done properly. It is part of the art, finding those places where the context will hide a gap!
For the record, though, I wish I could circular breath.
