I think I have to agree with what John Swensen posted but you do have an interesting idea. I wonder if it would be possible to fashion a set of parts that could be attached to the existing ones to create the situation you describe. For example, maybe you could fashion a top bow, bottom bow, and bell section that would attach to the existing parts in such a way as to be completely reversible. Obviously, this would require a qualified repairman to do the switch and it wouldn't be something that you could switch at will because of all the soldering. But it would afford the opportunity to try out your idea without ruining your current tuba and at a fraction of the cost of a new tuba. Maybe someone with more design savvy than I could shed some light on the possibilities/pitfalls of such an arrangement...
