If what somebody said about Matt Goode is true (small frame, smaller lung capacity), then that just goes to show that there is a god, and that there's hope for all involved. I just heard him play the Mahler 8th (twice) in Dallas, and I can tell you that he has one heck of a big sound. I certainly didn't notice any problems with Matt sustaining long notes, but who can tell in the Mahler 8th anyway (?). My most despised long note is that stupid one (well, it is to me anyway) that comes around twice in the Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto. Why couldn't he have just had a few double basses play that note (or do they?).
Barry - glad I went to Dallas - Guerrero
