the "narrow tuning slide" version of the model 37 is the one preferred
by those who like this type horn. In fact, when people used to reverently
share memories it was regarded as a sort of "grail" type tuba if you could
find one that was special. People who liked these horns regarded this particular model
as VERY special. So there you have the reason for "narrow-tuning slide" being emphasized in the Baltimore Brass used tubas list. Oh, the description indicates the vintage of the horn style, and the "narrow-slide" models had a couple of other differences from other 37's.

automatically assuming stuffiness because of certain features like the narrow
tuning slide description above may be short-sighted. If this were universally
true, then valve branches would ALL be big lazy loops. Not many tubas, custom
or otherwise, are built this way today.
3)
Other posters point out that the 37 and the 2145 are completely different.
I'd suggest contacting the seller directly to discuss the pro's and cons
of each style, but first and foremost TALK WITH YOUR TUBA TEACHER ABOUT IT!!!!
