Try some STP Oil Treatment on your (cleaned) slide. Use it sparingly--apply it with a toothpick to each leg of the slide. Not as sticky as lanolin, but still quite viscous and doesn't get thinner as your horn warms up. Should keep your slide in place without slipping--and won't corrode into green gunk. Clean up any excess with paint thinner or charcoal lighter.
