I used a Koss trombone mike, removed from its bell mounting frame, used sticky sided velcro in the bell and on the back of the mike and installed it in the tuba. I run the cord to a huge bass amp I have for my electric bass. The sound is huge, dominating and can be violent, if not carefully handled. Total cost was $19.95, 24 years ago. I got this technique from a Tommy Johnson Master class at the L.A. ITEC in the 70s.
