Joe, I just got an email from Steve Putnam, who read my post, raising the same question. The band director who's talking about wanting to see if my son might be able to make this transition from low reed to tuba was talking about a 4/4 when I heard about this last week. I haven't asked him about this large a horn but probably should. As I told Steve in my reply to his email, I really would like to have a horn for my son to practice on that he can blow with some success and not hyperventilate himself while trying to play! I'd like to give him some success and encouragement in this, and this may just be a little bit too much of a bore for him. In fact it may be too much for me after my long absence. My diaphragm ain't what it was when I was 21! (which was not recently.)
