What can I say Joe? I'm comfortable that I understand what a Germanic sounding F tuba sounds like. Can I describe it in words? Probably not cogently. But then, isn't that why we have music in the first place, to express that which cannot be expressed with words alone? The only reason I call it Germanic is that the design seemed to originate in that region of Europe. Germanic design doesn't necessarily mean a German stereotype. Apparently enough posters on this BBS know what I mean because the term continues to be bandied about with some effectiveness in those discussions. Will we all agree on a single definition? Probably not. Can we all agree on an exact definition of the color blue or what it means to each of us? Perhaps not. We each bring our own perceptions to such evaluations so any two definitions may not be exactly alike. But the term is at least understandable.
I hope that is the B.S. on the BBS that you were looking for! ;-)
