My creditial for offering a suggestion is the fact I was (Okay, still am.) poor. When I ran out of money I'd sell off my tuba and finish out the semester before I had to go back to work to earn more money for college. Whatever good tuba at a great price came next, is what I played next. I've been back and forth between CC and BBb many times. Like weight lifting, put a little strain on your brain. Get some trombone books and read down an octave. This is a good tome to clean up articulation and phrasing, too. When you do that, reading as written will then seem easy. Your subconcious mind still has BBb fingers and it takes time.
