Anything by Mendelssohn that doesn't have a tuba part. For my money, Mendelssohn is one of the hardest composers to perform effectively. While I generally like his music, it requires a really accurate touch. Of course, he tended to write for serpent or ophicliede (what he had to work with at the time) so his parts are not characteristic tuba parts. Usually with composers whose work requires a deft, flawless touch (Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, etc.) the clean execution of the music generates its own momentum. I find the Mendelssohn works require this same spotlessness but don't return the favor with that inner excitement. I hope that makes some sense.
