The reason why I asked about the German sound in the first place....was that the 621, although easy to play, sounded, ah, like a great big euphonium. My MW 46 does not sound like a euphonium. I already have a nice euphonium. I wanted a tuba!! Yes it's the player, but it's also the instrument. I see it in horns, too. Since I'm much more proficient on horn, I'm much more able to get "my" sound, even with differing mouthpieces. But the little high F single horn I just bought sounds like a half-horn-half-trumpet, no matter what I do, no matter what mouthpiece I use.
