My poor attempts pertaining to my old large CC: focussed; meaty; dark (but not dull); immediate; powerful; supports, blends, or picks up and carries ensembles on its shoulders--a tuba players tuba sound. My CC is not the world's greatest solo or quintet horn, but I absolutely love it in brass choirs or large (orchestra/band) groups.

In case you've never played one: extremely free-blowing, quick, even response, interesting intonation. Alexes seem to reward strenuous effort (or maybe they just require it?) Huge bore (.820?), some have large, others have ridiculous (.660!) receivers. Very thin metal and overall light weight. One piece long, tall bells. This horn (and an Alex F that has its own set of endearing qualities) were like children to me. Any success in my career has come while playing these horns. I've never met an Alex owner who didn't love his horn!
