Just about every old 70's era Miraphone 186 that I've ever seen has the end nut missing on the valve skewer (the axle that goes through the springs and spatula pivots). I've been told that the modern replacement nuts from Miraphone have a different thread on them and won't work.
Now, I've got one of these orphans (a 1978 186-5U CC MiraFone) and guess what--the skewer nut is missing. I figure all those nuts must wind up on the bottom of the Sargasso Sea along with lost socks and car keys...
Does anyone have any ideas on a replacement? I'm looking for something that matches the original in appearance.
