Waxing an unfinished (lacquer, varnish, poly, epoxy, etc.) surface is humbug.
To slow down re-tarnishing, wash your hands prior to handling your instrument, and wipe it off with a clean, soft cloth when you're done playing. Tarnishield brand of silver polish perhaps "works" a tiny bit, but the super-high cost of the stuff is hardly worth the benefits when you actually rub it away as soon as you touch a spot, and the spots NOT touched usually stay fairly shiny for a long time, anyway.
