I have an old Eb Buescher tuba which has a problem that is: The mouthpiece that supposedly goes with it (marked both "Buescher" and "Tru-tone") as well as my helleberg mouthpiece does not seem to fit into the leadpipe. It only goes in about 3/8" or 1/2" As a result the tuning is terrible and the tone is woofy.
Does anyone know:
A. if there is anything to be done about this
B. if it's even worth doing anything about this.
I know that for a small time at the turn of the century Buescher made tubas but I don't think they were great. . .
Although if I can get it to work it would be great to have even a mediocre Eb.
