Thank you for clearing up a mistery for me. I know of a giant Holton BB 340 that had that done to the top branch. The idea of someone cutting a top branch in half to remove a dent was so alien to me, I couldn't guess what the ferrule was for. I'm sure glad I work for a boss who isn't afraid to buy the right tools for the job.
Just wait. Maybe you will get another dent in the top branch that affects the sound or pitch. When the branch is off to remove the new dent, the old dent will cost next to nothing to remove. Matt
