I have a 6-valve Rudy F. I love the horn's sound. It has a rich, classic sound. Intonation on the horn is characteristic of the rotary F's....bad. BUT the sound of the horn makes up for it. I played every f tuba at Brasswind and this horn sounded the best to me. Mine has a pretty open low register. It has some challenging notes but is not too hard to tame the beast. I like the high register, though it can be hard at times to get the notes to speak with ease. It produces a large sound. Some say it is too big for strict solo playing but for me it's fine. I haven't played it in a quintet yet because I haven't got all the intonation issues figured out.

I would be glad to answer any questions,

Jason Harrell
