What did everyone think of the artist euphonium competition and the results? Here's my take:
Martin Cochran - great player. Really consistent, great sound, very musical.
Brandon Jones - wow. I was floored by him. he's only 20 too! great sound, aggressive, powerful low range, all over the horn. extremely musical especially for his age.
Matt Maslanka - also fine, fine player. great technique. could open up a little more at times with the sound. great performance of the Jager Concerto!
I thought the placement was pretty much right, although I had Brandon Jones winning, Martin Cochran 2nd, and Matt Maslanka 3rd. It was really close between the top 2. I enjoyed listening to all 3 thoroughly! Great job guys, and be proud of where you finished!
