Parting Thoughts – ITEC 2002-An ITEC for you.

Well, we survived hosting an ITEC convention. However, there were a few
times when we weren’t quite sure we’d make it. Dennis AsKew and I would like
to send our thanks out to all:

The Participants
The Industry Vendors
The Sponsors
The Artists
The Competitors
The Clinicians
The Lecturers
The UNCG support staff
The Steering Committee
The ITEC 2002 STAFF workers
The ITEC suppliers
The ITEA Journal Reviewers
The ITEA Executive Committee
The UNCG Custodial Staff
The other volunteers (families and friends).

From all of the kind remarks we’ve heard, ITEC 2002 was a great success, in large part, due to the long list of people above. There were some memorable performances throughout the week and great clinics as well as interesting lectures and discussions. Some of us renewed old acquaintances while others made new friends. There were many horns tried and several purchased and others committed to. There were hundreds and hundreds of artist CDs sold and sheet music and accessories. The Barbeque was a winner and the entertainment top notch. The lifetime achievement awards presented by ITEA to Rex Conner, Roger Bobo, Willie Kurath, and John Williams were very special indeed.

Registration got a little snarled at times but we worked through that with a minimum of aggravation and appreciated everyone’s patience. There was the infamous McIver Street
Parking deck that proved frustrating at times. We were able to work through the rough spots and keep most of them transparent to all who were there. For that, we thank our superb staff and volunteers.

Fortunately, for future ITECs, Dennis will be the next Conference Coordinator for ITEA--he'll be there to help Janos Mazura in Budapest, Hungary, and all those hosting the regional events next year, and other, as yet unnamed hosts for the next several years. Hopefully, sharing our knowledge of what does and does not work can ensure greater future successes for ITEA and its conferences.

Once again, thank all of you for making this ITEC the success that it was.

Bart Collins and Dennis AsKew
