Is it out of the question to use a government tuba once you arrive there? Surely, the US Air Force has some decent tubas you could use. Provided they allowed you some time to get acquainted with one of their horns, you could probably do well in the audition and save the hassle (and expense) of bringing your own horn. Just a suggestion.
