Wow! And you're still an amatuer! I am sorry to sound contradictory but I find it hard to believe that any tuba is that in tune. Could it be that "every note you need" is the tuning B-flat you started with? The band director doesn't say anything because a: you are probably a pretty good player and he has bigger fish to fry than your possibly slight intonation descprencies b: the intonation in the community band is so bad (as most comminuty bands) so he (the director) has not clue that you play in tune because the rest of the band is no where close. c: he figures "at least he is not playing that dang 20K sousaphone!"
