Are you sure about Amtrak costing a lot less? I looked into Amtrak for a visit to my parents a few months ago, and their prices were ridiculously high - more than twice that of the average airfare(got a plane ticket for $240, whereas the equivalent Amtrak trip would have cost me over $800, and this was with fairly good advance notice). Is this typical of Amtrak, or did I just catch them at a bad time?
