I am a serious conservatory tubist, and I use a CC tuba and an EEb tuba. My EEb tuba is an old Dillon/Holton, and just 2 summers ago I got a 5th valve added on. Last week I had the 1st and 3rd valve slides cut for better intonation. Before I had that done, several pros played it and they all loved it. One big name pro has offered to buy it from me several times. It is a gem. It is even better now than it was when the pros played it because I had slide work done on it. I might get an F tuba in a few years, but I really don't need one because my EEb can already do what the F can, but with a better low register and a fatter, but more flexible sound. I still think that the new EEb tubas are underrated, and that many F tubas are overrated, except for the very nice new Rudy F that played very well at ITEC. I was very impressed with that horn. Just my opinions and thoughts.
