the lower you play on a cimbasso the more open it becomes, generally speaking
the mw F cimbasso that i have used holds true to this statement until some of the really long fingerings (G, Gb), when it becomes stuffy
the normally stuffy low C on F tuba is one of the money notes on the F cimbasso (if you stick it you can actually hear the bell go "dinggggg" on a Bb)
J.B. is right when he said that it is a totally different blow than tuba. I tried, as he said, to blow as if I were "straightening it out", as opposed to letting it resonate and 3 days of sore chops resulted (from only about 1 hr of cimbasso)
for once, make the bass trombone jealous...
