I have had a bell front(removable) BBb186 Mirafone #13XX for a few years,
and just this week, I was given another bell front(removable)BBb186 Mirafone
that has no serial number.(slide tubes are all brass,but the back caps are
plain, no engraving or adjuster screws)One rumor that I have heard is that
Mirafone numbers started with 1000, when they started using numbers for
the US market, no numbers on European horns prior to the start of the US
trade(Locke Music, Los Angeles?)I'm taking my "new" tuba into Robb Stewarts
shop, I'll ask for more info. He will probably provide me with many stories about
low serial number instruments. (incredible artist/repairman, wonderful person)
