Wider cups allow more sine waves (developed between your vibrating lips) to be sent as a signal into the bore of the instrument. More sine waves increases the chance of more better quality sine waves and offers more quantity of signal...thus, a better chance at a nice sound.

Deeper cups move the generation point of the signal (your lips, vibrating with sine waves) farther away from the beginning point ( mouthpiece throat) of the air column. The farther away the generation point is from the beginning of the air column, the less accurately the signal is transferred. Thus, some of the high frequencies are lost (as low frequencies tend to do better of long distances). This causes one's tone quality to become "darker" the farther their vibrating lips are from the throat of the mouthpiece.

The cup width of a 25 is rather narrow. The cup depth of a 25 is average.
