I actually liked Jay's equestrian style answer. Also because he returned to tubaism.
The only available illustration I could come up with right now shows the "active" sousa player placing his bits in a sort of "reverse-Joe-S" way. But then this player applies another non-standard technique.
As far as one can say anything at all about the way the "passive" sousa player has placed his bits, then it appears to be similar to the way I use the bits on my 26K Eb. (Whereas I follow Joe strictly, when I play my 40K BBb).
