Both are great CC tubas and would be better than a PT4. The PT20 might compete for an equal in an all around CC. The 188 and the 56J make better all around tubas. The piston would be a little easier to be technically cleaner because of being a piston. Rotary tubas are harder to make cleaner in faster passages.
Sound, tone, volume and fitting with any group would be greater on either.
The ? is which do you like easier.
