I guess it's a "calculated risk". Just keep in mind that the baggage handlers will do anything within their powers to demolish your instrument before you arrive in the UK. I don't know how they do that, but it happens all the time. Pad the horn well, and put it in a heavy duty flight case. (Preferably a heavy one without any handles ;-D )

And if possible, stay with the horn until after the baggage security check. (They sometimes unpack your baggage, and then don't bother to put everything back into the right place, possibly doing more harm.)
