I'm sorry that I didn't bring up the job I had when I was 14 working 40 hour weeks during the summer and after school during the spring every summer from then until I was almost 20. I used the money that I made to help my parents pay for these trips, instruments for myself and college expenses. I make money now by playing in small gigs, so I can pay for summer trips to places like Mendez brass and the OU workshop. If this isn't 'real' to you, maybe you need to re-evaluate what you consider effort. I still earned the money, without it being handed to me on a silver platter.
I think this has gone far enough off the intention of this board
