Tough one to answer. Good intonation to all of us is really playing in tune with the group, or in the case of a soloist, by oneself or with a piano. Intonation is affected by many things: mouthpiece, embouchure, temperature, humidity, how tired or refreshed you are, and by breath support or lack thereof.

The best way for a person to find "the" horn is to go and play some. Each of us has a sound concept we look for. If the intonation then is close, it has been my experience that is the horn to buy.

Sound first (tone quality), good intonation, flexibility, ergonomics, size, weight - all are considerations in selecting the "right" horn. Good luck.
