I always hear the phrase "good intonation" in the same way one would hear "I'll call you in the morning" or "The check's in the mail."

I've given up on other's reports on how instruments perform, and - as a middle-aged f*rt - finally realize that I either have to get myself to a tuba or get a tuba to me before any evaluation of a tuba can be made.

Though millions of used automobiles are misrepresented by their sellers each year, I believe proportionally more misrepresentation of for-sale tubas occurs than that of automobiles because:

- No one's going to sue over tuba intonation, and no judge would ever make an award over tuba intonation.
- Many who describe their tubas for sale - though honest individuals - simply are not qualified to compare the tubas intonation against a standard of "good intonation".

summary: Ignore the phrase "good intonation" in the description of any tuba offered for sale.
