Thanks to Klaus and Mr./Ms Anonymous.

The outer dimensions of the male branches of the 1976 Imperial EEb tuning bow are 6/8 inch and 7/8 inch at the other end. The 7/8 end is slightly longer, but that is irrelevant.
I ordered a 982 tuning slide bow so that I might experiment with cutting and soldering the male part that does not enter the tuba to raise the pitch, instead of cutting the back bow (which I thought was riskier with our repair man).

I think these are the measurements which Klaus requested. To see if the tuning slide and/or assembly of the new 981s are shorter than for the 982 or earlier Imperials might require the measurement of the whole tuning bow and perhaps of the female ends, which would be somewhat difficult to do accurately. Perhaps this is too much to do for Klaus, since once the B & H company sent him, if I remember correctly, the wrong part anyway.

Thanks
bill
