Don't do it. Plating chromium over a hard material like steel works pretty well, but on a soft metal like brass, you're asking for trouble. Drop the mouthpiece and you're likely to cause the plating to flake off--and chromium is a very hard material--the edge of a flake can be razor-sharp.
If you're looking for an inexpensive mouthpiece, try a Faxx, or one of those plastic jobbies offered on eBay.
