"Although not always the most musically diverse and satisfying music job there is..."

It's really difficult to come up with an example of a "musically diverse" job for a musician:

- jazz band...uhh, jazz (usually only one type of jazz)
- military band...already defined extensively in this thread
- orchestra...whole notes - loud and soft, a lot of "back stage" work, and the occasional one of thirty or so 'GREATEST HITS OF THE ORCHESTRAL TUBA PLAYER'
- brass quintet...Being in the Canadian Brass, etc., would be challenging if not grueling, but not particularly diverse
- college tuba teacher...the same etudes and solos year after year with clones of the same sophomor(ic) slackers not properly preparing this rehashed repertoire for their lessons...perhaps a 1/2 recital once a year - not quite done as well as one could with the proper amount of preparation, and the occasional BAD "new" music piece forced upon the tuba teacher by a resident (or guest) composer
- polka band...yeah, right

Again, there is a reason why something is called a "job", and why most any "job" can be defined somewhat succinctly.
