I had an audition for the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra last jan. Well, ONE WEEK before my audition, I was playing with my dog and she jumped up and split my upper lip wide open. I FREAKED (a little too much).
I put ice on it and didn't play for 4 days. Wound completely healed by the audition and I even advanced.
Ice, baby, Ice. Don't worry too, since you don't have to play you are okay. And since it is on your bottom lip, the one that supports your sound and not the flexible one used to change pitches, you'll be fine.
Looks like you got tons of good advice thought.
