FYI, Dr. Gary Bird w/ Indiana University of Pennsylvania, stopped by today to check out my 621. He indicated he was considering the possibility of a switch from his silver 621 to a lacquer 621. Since he didn't have his with him for a side-by-side comparison, he decided not to take mine as he couldn't tell for certain that mine was definitely better than the one he presently owns. He did seem reasonably pleased with my horn, however, and he made it sound significantly better than I've heard it sound recently, heh heh . . . .
My point -- only that there is now a potentially unbiased 2nd opinion available for anyone who is interested. His email address is easily located by a brief search of the internet.
