I have been using a CD recorder for about 3 years now, after ten years with a DAT recorder, and I'll never go back. The CD recorder (mine is a Tascam) is dependable, easy to use, and never gives me any trouble. I even dropped it once without damage. And blank disks are about 30 cents apiece. I can listen to the disks with my car stereo, which I could not do with the DAT or mini-disk. And my computer can also read them directly, for editing purposes. When I bought mine I also had to get a small microphone mixer (a Samson mixpad) but now you can get CD recorders with microphone inputs.
