This is a huge topic that deserves master classes and seminars. However, to summarize:
-listen to many recordings
-play for people who you respect for suggestions
-record yourself daily
-stay healthy with a good diet and exercise
-remember that your performance that day does not define you as a complete player. Just as a player at that time, in that room, in that city, for that committee.
-Start practicing yesterday, because all the candidates are getting better and better
